University of Wisconsin Eau Claire

Spurs & Skis Skijoring Stampede

Skijoring is a high-intensity, adrenaline-filled combination of skiing, racing and rodeo, and the word “skijoring” is derived from the Norwegian word “skikjoring” which means “ski driving.”

Racing teams include three parts – a skier, a rider, and a horse. All three work together to navigate a course designed to include jumps, turns, and obstacles in the shortest amount of time possible. The end result is an action-packed, family-friendly sporting event that recognizes the connection between humans and animals and celebrates the best winter has to offer!
