Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour

The most prestigious mountain film festival in the world, The Banff Centre's Banff Mountain Film Festival comes to Eau Claire for its sixth year! The 2017/2018 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour brings films from the 42nd annual Banff Mountain Film Festival to about 450 communities and 40 countries. This year's screenings feature the world's best mountain sport, culture and environmental films, letting you experience the thrill and challenges of mountain environments that inspire us all. At each screening around the world, audiences will see a selection of award-winning films and crowd favorites from the hundreds of films entered into the annaul festival. Join us for UWEC GEEKcon in UW-Eau Claire Davies Student center, where you can explore what happens when hobbies and passions take a much larger role in our lives. UW Eau Claire students, alumni, faculty, emeriti, staff and community creators will be present to showcase their creations, talents and fun merchandise. Mark your calendars for Saturday, Dec. 9, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and anticipate all kinds of work ranging from knitting, Legos, cos-play to monster models, comic books, artists, game developers and more! Admission to GEEKcon is $5 for community members — or free for those under 18, with any school ID or with a food-pantry donation. Alumni gathering in Uganda, Africa

SAVE THE DATE: A special UW-Eau Claire alumni gathering is being planned for Jan. 18-20, 2018, in Entebbe, Kampala Uganda. Mary Hilfiker, a 1967 UW-Eau Claire graduate, and Samson Gimui, a 2009 graduate will host the event. As the date approaches, please watch this website or the eView newsletter for more details. The event will include a weekend of conversation and activity as well as an opportunity to join a safari from Jan. 21-30. Blugold singers invited to join the 2019 Paris Choral Festival

Blugold alumni who sang in UW-Eau Claire choirs as students are invited to join the Eau Claire Master Singers in the formation of a UW-Eau Claire Alumni Choir that will participate in the Paris Choral Festival to be held July 2-9, 2019, in Paris, France. Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, UW-Eau Claire professor emeritus of music, will direct the choir and serve as artistic director for the festival, which will commemorate the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and the liberation of France.
